Where Have All the Girl Airsoft Players Gone?

By: Ja’Nelle B.

Have you ever noticed the overwhelming scarcity of girl Airsoft players? Well, here are some of my theories:

1) Lack of female-friendly bathroom facilities in most Airsoft gaming sites – unless you’re lucky enough to afford one of those 12-million-US-dollar NASA-style EVA suits with functioning cooling system and urine-collection assembly – for women users. Or find one keenly-priced in a second-hand, then this problem will be keeping away the “fairer sex” from “established” Airsoft clubs’ game sites.

2) An overwhelming number of guys tend to get that “emasculated” feeling whenever a girl or an all-girl Airsoft team manages to kick their ass. So they tend to avoid playing in opposition to an all-girl team whenever possible. Using the “the best way to win a war is to deny a battle” approach with great rhetorical skill.

3) An overwhelming majority of girls started out with real guns / firearms as their first firearms shooting and safety lesson experience. Unfortunately – especially in our post 9 / 11 world – girls tend to have their first ever knowledge with guns from real ones, as opposed to a lithium battery powered electric motor driven glorified version of a pellet gun Airsoft weapons system. Which have a much limited range and accuracy in comparison to a humble biathlon rifle that shoots “varmint” rounds.

So there you have it, some griping and excuses on why girls are not joining into Airsoft clubs in droves. And the all-girl clubs now in existence are just content with their “girl-on-girl action”. But who knows what tomorrow might bring.

  1. Yes, a very unnerving list of pet peeves. Well, you should check out my team at http://the-che-guevara-youth-militia.blogspot.com
It is not exactly all female but we are egalitarian enough to include female-friendly bathroom facilities in our Airsoft gamesite. Those 6mm mineral-filled polypropylene 0.2 gram plastic BBs are getting expensive as the day goes by, but it's no reason to skimp on female-friendly bathroom facilities by the way.

  2. I think all-girl Airsoft teams are more common than you think. Please check out my blog at http://womens-liberation-army.blogspot.com
Who's afraid of 0.2 -gram 6mm mineral-filled polypropylene BB pellets hitting you at 450 feet per second?
